trip to Jersey - St BRELADE’S College* - 4-8 Nov. 2019
As part of their first year programme and curriculum, 29 BTS MCO students headed to Jersey on the stormiest day of the year! But we made it safely!
Jersey, the largest Channel island, is located between France and the UK. Although it is relatively small, it has a sizeable international population and varied tourist attractions. No time to get bored!
Lessons, professional and cultural visits, shopping and free time…
A night coach drove us from Ploërmel to St Malo, then we took the ferry to St Helier harbor. A one-hour journey only.
The students were hosted in local families, with personal bedroom, breakfast, packed lunch and dinner (typical and, really, food was great!). The programme was made of a one week intensive course in the mornings. The school provides relevant and motivating speaking lessons in small groups of 10-15 students, with a lots of interaction and participation, highly encouraged by native teachers.
We also had a guided and commented tour of M&S department store with the Sales and collections Manager. We learnt a lot about this famous British Brand, from its creation to its best-selling and iconic products. We also had cultural visits to discover the big and impressive Mont-Orgeuil Castle as well as the War Tunnels.
Well, a friendly atmosphere, perfect to learn English without any stress, every occasion was good enough to improve our English with the help of teachers or staff at school and dedicated, welcoming families. Plus, pubs, coffee shops, bowling afternoon, shopping in the evenings…nature and beaches all around us, beautiful landscapes with farms and cottages, fresh air (not so dry though, but what do you expect?? This is UK after all!).
It was entertaining and at the same time the students moved forward as they have learnt more professional vocabulary and gained self-confidence and fluency in English.
